Neverland, the Japanese developer of Marvelous AQL’s popular RPG sim Rune Factory, has ceased operations, according to a statement by the studio. Citing ‘changing economic conditions’, the company will begin bankruptcy proceedings shortly.
Rune Factory, a spin-off of the Harvest Moon series, was described by Harvest Moon producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto as, “Harvest Moon where you wield a sword.” Neverland has developed the Rune Factory games since their inception in 2006.

The Rune Factory 4 was released in Japan last year and in North America this October, and publisher Marvelous AQL has confirmed earlier that a new title in the series will be released in the future.
