SQEX launches Nosgoth on Steam Early Access

Square Enix has announced that following last month’s closed beta launch of the publisher’s upcoming F2P MMOG Nosgoth, the title will also be released on the Steam Early Access platform.

Nosgoth will be available in a closed beta version via Steam Early Access until the game enters open beta stage. “It is our recommendation that if you aren’t sure about the experience you’ll get in closed beta, you should wait for open beta and play Nosgoth for free,” said Square Enix in a statement.

Developed by San Diego-based game studio Psyonix, the new title is a spin-off of the Legacy of Kain series of action-adventure games. The F2P format and team-based gameplay in Nosgoth is a departure from the retail, single-player and story-driven Legacy of Kain formula.

“Nosgoth is a free-to-play game — but it’s not pay-to-win,” said Square Enix London Studios community manager George Kelion. “One of the key goals has been to create a fair experience that doesn’t penalise players who don’t spend money in the game.”
