Flappy Bird dev to re-launch hit title

Hanoi-based developer Nguyen Ha Dong (Dong Nguyen) has announced that his viral mobile hit Flappy Bird will return to iOS and Android devices in August. The re-launched game will also reportedly feature a multiplayer mode.

Early in 2014 the title topped app store rankings in China and North America, and was estimated to be earning Nguyen and Vietnamese publisher .GEAR Studios circa US$50,000 per day in advertising revenues.

After Nguyen was repeatedly accused of copyright infringement, the developer decided to remove from Android and iOS app stores worldwide in February.

Nguyen announced in March that he is also working on several new titles, including Checkonaut, an action game/chess hybrid, as well as Kitty Jetpack and an untitled shooter.
