Applications for GameFounders Fall 2015 program open until June 20th

GameFounders has launched its most ambitious developer outreach program to date to celebrate the opening of applications for the Fall 2015 Cycle, the first to be held in Asia. The launch is backed up by an aggressive 7-stop seminar tour through South East Asia organized in cooperation with Unity Technologies called The Big Asia Tour. As part of the developer outreach program, GameFounders has partnered up with Unity to begin “The Big Asia Tour” to meet local developers, establish new strategic partnerships and spread the word about the newly established GameFounders Asia hub. The Tour is under way with events already held in Singapore, Johor Bahru, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila. Forthcoming events will be held in Penang & Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Tokyo and Bangkok.

“GameFounders is a big deal and I am really excited for this to happen in this region. There has been an explosion of game developers in the Philippines over the last ten years. Everyone thinks that they can make a game and when they ship it, the reality hits you, that it’s a business.” said Gabby Dizon, CEO and Founder of Altitude Games from the Philippines. “So having a successful game accelerator set up in Southeast Asia through the Malaysian government and come to the Philippines to take the best pitches and help them become successful studios is something that has never been available before.” “GameFounders is where you get the connections to raise funds. They are among the leading people in the industry who can understand you and take you to the next level. I don’t see many people like that in the VC world and it’s reassuring that they have experienced many of the lessons I have learned in raising funds” said Anton Soeharyo, CEO and Founder of Touchten Games from Indonesia. “When you have found the team that you want to work with, it is incredibly important to have the business knowledge as well. Sometimes the business is not convenient to what you want to do creatively but you have to listen to it. That’s why GameFounders is important, they will help bring that business knowledge to you” Said Anh Le Giang, CEO and Founder of Joy Entertainment from Vietnam.

“We are very excited about the potential of the GameFounders Asia program since we will get a unique opportunity not only to support this amazing community of game developers but help build the necessary business and strategic skills for gaming entrepreneurs to go truly global. We have had many applications from Asia in the past and know the talent pool in this region is huge, “says Kadri Ugand, CEO and co-founder of GameFounders. Deadline for applications to join the accelerator program is June 20. Applying teams are expected to have a playable version or demo video of their project, be ready to set up a business and attend the program in Kuala Lumpur for three months.

Selected game studios will receive investment, an extensive network of global game industry contacts and first hand experience of the fastest growing games market in the World. Teams from all over the world will be able to share experiences with Asian developers as they look to level-up their strategy for success using the GameFounders program to boost them forward.

GameFounders Asia is launched in alliance with MDeC, a Malaysian government agency, which drives the National ICT Initiative; MSC Malaysia and the National Digital Economy Initiative; Digital Malaysia. MSC Malaysia is the platform to nurture the growth of Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the ICT industry whilst attracting participation from global ICT companies to invest and develop cutting-edge digital and creative solutions in Malaysia.

Tour attendees will hear sessions about studio building, Unity technology and financing growth. Local developers´ will also be given an opportunity to pitches their games and studios as part of the “Come Show Us Your Game” interactive session.
