AU cancels dev funding scheme

Australian Government/Screen Australia

The Australian government has announced the cancellation of the Australian Interactive Games Fund. The game development stimulus program will end on 1 July

The three-year A$20 million investment package was announced in 2012 to bolster the ailing Australian games industry. Media funding body Screen Australia dispersed A$6 million to game developers in June last year, followed by an additional $2.6 million in September.

The circa A$10 million in undisbursed funds will be reassigned in the government’s 2014-2015 budget.
