Capcom reports stable mid-year results on strong MH4 sales

Capcom

Capcom announced increased sales of 53.2 billion JPY for the first two fiscal quarters, up 16.9 per cent year-on-year. Net profits also rose by 7.2 per cent to 4.9 billion JPY for the six-month period compared to last year.

The company reported strong sales for Monster Hunter 4, the latest release in its flagship Monster Hunter franchise, with 3 million units sold in just over a month after launch. However new Resident Evil and Phoenix Wright game sales were flat for the period, and the latest Lost Planet sequel sold below expectations.

Capcom is reportedly shifting towards a greater emphasis on in-house production and post-release content, as well as mobile development and a restructuring of operations overseas.
