Japan’s Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) announced the results of a survey of game developers in conjunction with the CEDEC conference that begins today in Yokohama.
The report collected 473 responses, and the findings revealed that the average survey participant was overwhelmingly Japanese (99.8 per cent), male (85.6 per cent), unmarried (58.7 per cent) and age 34. The most common educational background was vocational college (39.2 per cent), and the majority (57.6 per cent) worked full time at a small to medium sized game company, earning an average of 5.22 million JPY per year.
Most respondents were also ‘satisfied’ with their jobs (45.8 per cent) and felt that the key to success as a game developer was ‘staid craftsmanship’.
