Japanese game developer and publisher Namco Bandai has announced it will invest S$1 million to establish a new studio in Singapore’s Mediapolis technology park this year.

“Namco Bandai Studios Singapore is positioned as the leading development centre for Namco Bandai Studios in Asia, and further reinforces relationships with development partners in the region,” said a company spokesperson.

The new studio will be staffed by Japanese and local experts, and work in close collaboration with Singapore’s Economic Development Board and several local educational institutions to develop and secure the studio’s talent pool.

Namco Bandai is based in Tokyo and known for its Dark Souls, Tekken and Soul Calibur titles, as well as game adaptations of the popular Japanese anime series Naruto and Dragon Ball Z.
