Nexon, with headquarters in Japan, reported record earnings for the second quarter of 36.624 billion JPY, up 60 per cent from last year. The company’s operating profits also rose 21 per cent year on year to 13.425 billion JPY.
According to Nexon, Dungeon & Fighter revenues in China grew 44 per cent in the quarter, and new mobile game acquisitions increased sales in Japan by 233 per cent from the same period last year. In the Korean market, FIFA Online 2 and Sudden Attack also continued to post rising revenues.
“Nexon’s second quarter results beat forecasts,” a company spokesperson said, “New and existing titles in China and South Korea also contributed to the sales increase, with growth in South Korea back on track.”
The spokesperson also noted, “In order to expand our presence in North America, we’ve made strategic investments in game development. The momentum of our online PC games in key markets, a strong line up in Japan and overseas, and growth of the mobile Nexon F2P platform has led our business expansion.”
