Nintendo has announced the opening of a new product development building near in the Japanese publisher’s headquarters in Kyoto.
“We’ll be interacting more deeply with hardware development, but we’ll also be able to develop integrated software,” said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in a statement.

Built at a cost of circa 19 billion JPY, roughly 1100 staff in the new 50,000 square meter facility will produce hardware and software as well as manage research and development of Nintendo’s next-generation game consoles.
