Despite delays and recent staff departures at Sony developer Evolution Studios, the PlayStation 4 exclusive road racing title Driveclub is reportedly nearing completion, with a 2014 release still scheduled.
“The progress being made on the game is spectacular, so we’re looking forward to sharing an update on development in the weeks to come,” said SCEE in a statement. “We thank you for your patience and assure you, it will be worth the wait.”
Sony announced last year that Driveclub’s scheduled launch would be delayed to give the Sony-owned UK studio additional time to polish the game’s visuals and player experience.
“Driveclub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game,” said Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida earlier. “I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.”
