SQEX F2P MMO Nosgoth exits closed alpha

Square Enix has announced that the publisher’s upcoming F2P MMOG Nosgoth for Windows PCs will conclude closed alpha testing today. The game’s beta release is slated for later this year.

Developed by San Diego-based game studio Psyonix, the new title is a spin-off of the Legacy of Kain series of action-adventure games. The last game in the franchise was Legacy of Kain: Defiance, released in 2003.

The F2P format and team-based gameplay in Nosgoth is a departure from the retail, single-player and story-driven Legacy of Kain formula. “Nosgoth is a free-to-play game — but it’s not pay-to-win,” said Square Enix London Studios community manager George Kelion. “One of the key goals has been to create a fair experience that doesn’t penalise players who don’t spend money in the game.”
