Hamburg-based publisher Bigpoint has announced a distribution partnership with Taiwanese online game provider Cube Magic to release a Mandarin language version of the award-winning RPG Drakensang Online in Taiwan. Drakensang Online has 23 million registered users in over 200 countries, according to publisher Bigpoint.

First launched in Europe in 2011, Drakensang’s Asian debut was in 2013 in partnership with leading Korean Internet provider NHN. The popular online RPG has also been released in South-East Asia, in cooperation with the region’s major social gaming platform, Friendster.

“By launching Drakensang in Taiwan, we are following a straightforward strategy to enter key Asian markets with remarkable growth potential,” said Bigpoint Regional Manager for Asia Arslan Kiran. “For years, Cube Magic has proven its experience in the Taiwanese gaming market and is a real expert in publishing browser-based games and is the perfect partner to deliver excellent gaming content and true online entertainment to sophisticated local players.”

Cube Magic is one of the country’s largest online game distributors, with over six million registered users. The Drakensang Online distribution contract is also Cube Magic’s first Western gaming company partnership.

“We are continuously seeking new high-quality online games and expect Drakensang Online quickly to become the best ARPG in the Taiwanese market.” said Cube Magic VP Thelma Lin. “We believe this action MMO is highly suited for the Taiwanese games market as it will deliver fresh experiences and brand-new feelings to Taiwanese gamers who are very enthusiastic and prefer playing player-versus-player and player-versus-enemy titles.”
