Korea’s Samsung is reportedly developing two home game consoles, according to Alan Queen, Samsung Innovation Lab’s senior director. Both hardware platforms will be integrated into the Samsung Gaming Service, an online store also in development.

The Samsung Mobile Console will allow Samsung mobile device owners interface with a Samsung micro-console, and will be targeted to mid-core gamers. The Samsung Mobile Console smartphone game launcher and storefront launched last December in conjunction with the release of Samsung’s smartphone gamepad.

The Samsung Multi-Screen will provide a built-in game home console platform on Multi-Screen equipped Samsung televisions. Players will be able to control games with either a physical or virtual gamepad, as well as pair the television with Samsung mobile devices.

Samsung Multi-Screen televisions will also feature native development support for titles utilising the Unity game engine and a unified development pipeline that will allow Unity developers to release the same game on both Samsung mobile devices and Samsung Multi-Screen televisions. The Samsung Multi-Screen is slated to launch in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Samsung Gaming Service is to be “a simple-to-use, curated platform with access to exclusive TV games at a range of price-points, including free-to-play” according to Queen. Release details are yet to be confirmed by Samsung.
