Sony Pictures Television has announced that an adaptation of the Powers comic book series will debut on the Sony PlayStation Network in North America this December.

The first three episodes of the new series will also be offered free-of-charge to PSN subscribers, Sony has confirmed.

“It’s about having a broad range of broadcast content to replicate the live TV experience,” said SCE president and group CEO Andrew House in an earlier statement. “It overlays extremely well with the demographics of the PlayStation,” added Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton.

The Powers superhero detective series, created and owned by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming, was first published by Image Comics in 2000. The series joined Marvel Comics in 2004.
