Chinese venture capital firm SAIF Partners has led Tel Aviv/San Francisco based Supersonic’s US$15 million Series B funding round.

Supersonic plans to use the new capital to fund expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, and will open offices in Beijing, Tokyo and Bangalore. SAIF partner Ben Ng will also join Supersonic’s board.

Supersonic’s cloud-based SDK provides ad serving, network mediation and a real-time bidding (RTB) marketplace.

“The app economy is exploding, not just in the US and EMEA, but in APAC as well. We saw this investment as an opportunity to reach our aggressive growth goals over the next 18 months,” said Supersonic co-founder and CEO Gil Shohamat. “By taking strategic investments from one of the most successful venture capital firms in China, as well as our existing investors, we believe we have secured the best possible outcome in the region.”

Supersonic (as SupersonicAds) was founded in 2009 with seed funding of US$2 million from former Skype chairman Michael Van Swaaij.
