Namco Bandai’s quarter mixed, game earnings stable

Namco Bandai

Namco Bandai released their first quarter results recording sales of 105.8 billion JPY, down 2.6 per cent year on year, with quarterly operating profits down 17.4 per cent at 13.3 billion JPY.

Game revenues were up slightly to 57 billion JPY, though operating profit declined by 2.2 per cent from last year. The company reported that despite no major overseas releases in the period, domestic retail sales of Gundam Breaker, Taiko no Tatsujin and Dragon Ball franchise titles were strong for the quarter.

Online and social game earnings in series including One Piece Grand Collection, Mobile Suit Gundam and Idol Master also remained stable, reported the company.

Declines in the company’s toys and amusement sector revenues were a drag on the quarterly results, down respectively 7.3 per cent and 6.8 per cent year on year.
