Netmarble, a front-runner in Korea’s mobile game market, is aiming to make forays into the global market through aggressive mergers and acquisitions. Netmarble Games held a press conference on July 15 at the Gvalley Convention Hall in Guro in southwestern Seoul where it briefed about its latest game lineups and the strategy to create a strong presence worldwide. During the press conference, Netmarble Games senior advisor and largest shareholder Bang Jun-Hyuk said, “The global mobile game industry is reorganized toward ‘scale and speed competition.’ We will make forays into the global market through acquisition of overseas IP and foreign game companies.” Netmarble Games plans to release 31 new mobile games by the first half of next year. Bang added, “We will release the Modoo Marble Disney which employs Disney characters, in North America and Europe within the fourth quarter of this year, while launching the Stone Age Begins, an RPG version of the online game Stone Age which was enjoyed by about 200 million Chinese gamers.”
