New Overseas Mobile Strategy for Shanda Games

With a big shift in Overseas Strategy Shanda Games Group merges the previously acquired publishing specialist Actoz Soft and developer Eyedentity Games into Eyedentity Mobile to handle the Western Markets for the Chinese Giant. This step comes with a huge investment in established IPs and new games. Over 30 million Dollars are invested in a portfolio of 8 games alone in 2015, some are based on Eyedentity Games’ already existing strong brands and some are completely new endeavors.

The first two games under this new strategy, Grand Chase M and Wonder5 Masters, are already released and could score a huge success. Grand Chase M, released in July, reached 4 million downloads in less than 2 weeks, while Wonder5 Masters, released in August, hit nearly a million downloads on Android alone after two weeks and achieved over 70% day one retention.

Eyedentity Mobile will swiftly follow up with additional high quality mobile games. The first in this series, Action-PRG Exos Saga, will be ready to be released in September. And October marks the start of the first Dragon Nest mobile game, heralding a whole series of high-quality games taking place in the Dragon Nest universe.
Aside from the more casual mobile experience of a Dragon Nest: Labyrinth, there will be full blown Mobile MMORPGS with Dragon Nest: Origin, an adaptation of the original PC game and the official sequel Dragon Nest 2: Legends with a mobile first strategy. This is not just a big shift for the Chinese Publisher and his subsidiary Eyedentity Mobile but also marks the dawn of a more hardcore focused wave of games hitting mobile platforms.

To support the new overseas strategy Eyedentity Mobile has a dedicated team of specialists in Berlin, taking care of the US-American and European audience. “It is an honor for us to localize these great games for the Western market, to provide a first class translation, an active costumer and community support”, explains Coco Chen, MD of Eyedentity Mobile GmbH: “We are excited to be an active part in this development and look forward to participating on the great lineup for 2015 and 2016.

Beyond the upcoming mobile games, the Dragon Nest brand will also be present in cinemas. While a direct to DVD/Blu-Ray release in Western Territories the first movie was a big success in Asian movie theaters. After the success of the first movie, Dragon Nest: Warrior’s Dawn (22 million budget), the production of a second movie has been confirmed.

After Shanda acquired the developer Eyedentity Games of Dragon Nest in 2010 by 95 million USD, Shanda uses this IP and promote Dragon Nest to multiple platforms, not only in online game industry, but also mobile, anime and movie.

In early August 2015 Eyedentity Mobile and Cherry Credits announced that Grand Chase M has reached two million downloads, one week after its official launch date on July 30 th 2015. Published globally by Eyedentity Mobile and powered by Cherry Credits in Southeast Asia, Grand Chase M is a 3D tactical action RPG mobile game for iOS and Android, based on the popular PC online game, Grand Chase. Within one week of its launch, Grand Chase M has reached Google Play’s Top 10 Action Games in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand*.
