Nintendo reported a third quarter operating loss of 18.4 billion JPY (US$187 million) on revenues of 115 billion JPY (US$1.17 billion).
Following a price cut, global quarterly sales of the company’s Wii U games console rose to 300,000 units, an 87.5 per cent from the previous quarter. Wii U software income also increased over 400 per cent in the quarter with the release of titles like Pikmin 3 and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

3DS portable game console sales dropped 20 per cent from last year, though 3DS game sales rose to US$16.37 million, a 40 per cent increase year-on-year as the overseas launch of Animal Crossing: New Leaf and existing titles sold well.
With the recently released Pokémon X and Y for 3DS and upcoming Super Mario 3D World for Wii U, Nintendo expects to post an operating profit of 100 billion JPY for the current fiscal year.
