Pokémon dev confirms upcoming NA cloud storage app releases

Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter

Pokémon Company, the Japanese game studio behind the popular Pokémon games series for Nintendo, has confirmed the upcoming releases of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter in North America. The Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter cloud storage apps are currently available in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia.

“North American Trainers will be able to introduce their Pokémon to the Kalos region soon!” said the studio in an online statement.

As reported earlier, Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter provide cloud storage for up to 3,000 Pokémon characters, and are compatible with Pokémon Black and White, Pokémon Black and White Versions 2 and Pokémon X and Y games. The applications are similar to the storage games Pokémon Box Ruby and Sapphire and My Pokémon Ranch.

Nintendo originally launched the apps in Japan on 25 December, but holiday-related traffic worldwide brought down Nintendo’s eShop within hours of release, and the Pokémon apps were temporarily removed from the company’s online store.

Nintendo has yet to confirm the exact North American launch date for Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter, but has announced that after a free 30-day trial, the combined apps will be priced at US$4.99 for year’s subscription.
