Japanese publisher Mechanic Arms and Polish co-publisher Teyon have announced that the Nintendo 3DS version of Steel Empire will launch via Nintendo 3DS eShop in North America on 31 July.
Japanese publisher Starfish, founded by the original Steel Empire developers, partnered with Tokyo-based Mebuis studio to develop the new Nintendo 3DS version. The remake of the classic Sega Genesis steam-punk shooter was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS in March.
The title was first launched in Japan for the Sega Genesis in 1992, and re-released on the Nintendo GameBoy Advance in 2004. A Steel Empire sequel, titled Burning Steel, is also reportedly in development.
