The Pokémon Company has revealed that the publisher’s Pokémon X and Pokémon Y titles for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS have sold over 12 million units worldwide since the games’ release in October 2013.
Last year Nintendo announced that the simultaneous Japanese, European and American launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y had sold over 4 million units, with the two titles becoming the fastest-selling 3DS games to date.

“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans,” said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in a earlier statement, “but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers are eager to experience the franchise for themselves.”
The Pokémon franchise has sold over 245 million games since the series began in 2006.
