Nintendo to target EMs with new hardware

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed plans to bring new gaming devices to emerging markets such as China next year.

“We want to make new things, with new thinking rather than a cheaper version of what we currently have,” said Iwata. “The product and price balance must be made from scratch.”

According to the Japanese publisher, the new hardware will be targeted at consumers with lower income and less gaming experience than Nintendo’s current customers in developed markets. Nintendo has previously released low cost versions of existing consoles, like the Wii Mini and 2DS handheld system.
