Nintendo has debuted the NFC Payment feature for Nintendo Wii U with the release of the F2P Nintendo eShop title Pig Medal in Japan.
Japanese payment cards, including Suica and Pasmo, are used to purchase in-game coins via the system.
In June Nintendo also unveiled the publisher’s Amiibo line of NFC figurines. Nintendo Amiibos utilise existing NFC technology in the Wii U Gamepad, and an infrared 3DS peripheral, slated for release in early 2015, will extend the system to the 3DS handheld console.
An overseas launch for the Nintendo NFC Payment platform has yet to be confirmed by the publisher.
