Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has now released Swing Copters 2 as the sequel to the previously developed Swing Copters. The free-to-play arcade game is claimed to have much more challenges and several new characters to let you stick to your mobile devices for long hours during this holiday season.
While Flappy Bird left the mobile video game world in February last year, Nguyen had brought Swing Copters in last August to offer mobile phone users a similarly hard and retro-style experience. Swing Copters 2 emerges from the same family. This, however, doesn’t mean that it delivers the same experience.
In fact, Swing Copters 2 appears to be a more difficult-to-play game than Flappy Bird and Swing Copters. Nguyen’s team at DotGear Studios has tried to improve graphics of the game and also added some new characters to enhance your excitement levels. But the game is even more challenging. “It is much more challenging. Thanks to the new moveable are swinging hammers,” Nguyen said.
The game has new obstacles to bring difficulty levels to a whole new level. Nevertheless, you still simply need to tap the screen to start engine of your chopper and then tap again to change flying direction. This gives a retro feel and helps playing the game on even some entry-level Android devices that don’t have highly sensitive accelerometer or gyroscope.
Vietnamese developer Nguyen says that his studio, which got popularity following the release of the iconic Flappy Bird, now consists of total six people.
Though the team was initially aiming to release an update to the original Swing Copters, it
finally released the sequel to that took more than two months in complete development. The new title is developed through the “same way” that was used for creating the previous games but upscaling has now been done to improve experience. “This time, we upscaled everything twice and put more pixels to smoothen the edge to make them look better on bigger phones today,” Nguyen said, adding that his team chose Photoshop CC as the primary tool to make the game matched with the previous work.
