Riot Games has announced that the League of Legends 2014 World Championship will take place in Taipei, Singapore and Busan over five weeks, ending with the 2014 World Final on 19 October at Sangam Stadium in Seoul.
“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re going to be hosting The Worlds on the road and hosting group stages in Taipei and Singapore in September,” said Riot Games in a statement. “The action will then move on to a quarter final show-down in Busan, Korea in October before the victorious teams emerge to battle it out in Seoul in the semi-finals and final. We’re looking forward to making our first stop in some of these regions and bringing the most talented League of Legends competitors in the world directly to local fans.”

Riot Games has also introduced a new sixteen-team group stage format for Taiwan, Singapore and Busan. The three top teams from Europe, North America, Korea and China will meet two teams from Taiwan and SEA as well as two wild card winners in the finals. Teams will be organised into four groups and compete in the group stages. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
