According to reports in the Chinese media in conjunction with the inauguration of the Shanghai Trial Free Trade Zone, the government will soon abolish a thirteen year old ban on the sales of game consoles in China.
Reports say that the government’s State Council will permit foreign companies with production and sales operations in the zone to sell their game consoles across the entire country. The Ministry of Culture will also be responsible for regulation and approval of all game consoles before distribution in the marketplace.
No exact date has been determined for ending of the ban, according to the announcement. However, government sources say that the new policy will be implemented over the next three years.
