MLG building esports arena near HK

Major League Gaming

Professional esports organisation Major League Gaming has partnered with Chinese Lai Fung Holdings and eSun Holdings to build a dedicated esports arena on Hengqin Island near Hong Kong. The 15,000-seat stadium is scheduled to open in 2017.

“This is yet another step in our plan to make esports and MLG a part of mainstream culture worldwide,” said MLG co-founder and President Mike Sepso in a statement.

Hengqin Island, a resort area in a special economic zone west of the Pearl River Delta, is currently developing an 18 billion RMB (US$2.8 billion) ‘Creative Culture City’ and envisions the MLG esports arena as a centrepiece of the gaming-themed ‘V-Zone’ in the new cultural district.
