SCE confirms layoffs at EU studios

Sony Computer Entertainment

Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed layoffs at Sony’s Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Cambridge and SCE London Studio in the UK. The number of staff affected has yet to be announced.

“Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive business can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects,’ said SCE in a statement. “As a result of this, there will be a focused restructure within London Studio, Guerrilla Cambridge Studio and Evolution Studio to ensure that the SCE WWS is in the best position to achieve their goals going forward.”

According to SCE, the delayed PS4 exclusive DriveClub, currently in development by Evolution Studios, will not be affected by the staff redundancies. US-subsidiary Sony Santa Monica also experienced layoffs earlier this year, along with the cancellation of an undisclosed new project in development.
