Sony has announced that PlayStation 4, the company’s next generation home gaming console, has sold over 6 million units worldwide since the console’s launch last year.
“There have now been more than 3.6 million live broadcasts, and more than 56 million sessions on PS4 through Twitch and Ustream,” said Sony Marketing VP John Koller. “In fact, since January 1st, PS4 gamers account for 20 per cent of daily broadcasters on Twitch. PS4 owners are also embracing the Share button on the DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller, with more than 100 million shares captured as fans show friends their latest achievements on Facebook and Twitter.”

As reported earlier, Sony’s newest flagship game console launched on 15 November in North America, in Australia, Europe and Latin American countries on 29 November, in Korea and Hong Kong on 17 December and in Singapore on 19 December. Sony PlayStation 4 also went on sale in India on 6 January and launched on 15 January in the Philippines. The console’s domestic debut was on 22 February.
