Sony PS hits JP sales milestones

Japanese analyst firm Media Create has confirmed that both Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita hit sales milestones in Japan last month.

PlayStation 3 sold 7,480 units in Japan in the last week of June, topping 10 million cumulative units sold. PlayStation Vita sold 24,919 units in Japan during the same period, hitting over 3 million cumulative units sold.



Cumulative Japanese sales of other Sony platforms include PlayStation 4 (released in 2013) at 613,786 units, Sony’s PlayStation Portable (launched in 2004) at 19.69 million units.

Sony PlayStation 2 (released in 2000) with over 23 million cumulative units sold is the third most sold platform in Japan after Nintendo DS (33 million, originally launched in 2004) and Game Boy (32 million, first released in 1989).
