Sony has agreed to a preliminary settlement of US$15 million in a California class action lawsuit over the publisher’s PlayStation Network data breach in 2011.
UK authorities have also fined Sony 250,000 GBP (US$396,000) for violation of the county’s Data Protection Act.

The US settlement offers plaintiffs benefits including Sony PlayStation 3 and Sony PlayStation Portable games, PS3 themes, subscriptions to Sony’s PlayStation Plus and Music Unlimited services as well as SOE Station cash.
A fairness hearing in California to assess the reasonableness of the settlement will be held next May.
