Hanoi-based developer Nguyen Ha Dong (Dong Nguyen) has removed his viral mobile hit title Flappy Bird from Android and iOS app stores worldwide.
The F2P 2D game was created by Nguyen over several days and released in May of last year. Early in 2014 the title topped app store rankings in China and North America, and was estimated to be earning Nguyen and Vietnamese publisher .GEAR Studios circa 50,000 USD per day in advertising revenues in February.

As the game rose in popularity, Nguyen was repeatedly accused of copyright infringement. After receiving increasing criticism online, the developer decided to remove the title, saying in a Twitter statement, “”I am sorry Flappy Bird users. I cannot take this anymore.”
