According to the latest sales figures from NPD Group Australia, the Sony PlayStation 3 was the country’s best selling game console last year. The PS3 was also Australia’s leading home gaming platform in 2011 and 2012.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia also noted that sales of the PlayStation 4, company’s next-generation console, have overtaken rival Microsoft’s Xbox One “as stock became more readily available” in the territory.
“It has been an enormous 12 months for PlayStation in Australia,” said SCE Australia MD Michael Ephraim. “These results reflect not only the passion Australians have for the PlayStation brand overall, but also the strength of the individual platforms we have.”
