Chinese mobile publisher FunPlus has announced the launch of the company’s in-house developed F2P farming sim Barn Voyage for iOS devices worldwide, with an Android release scheduled for August.
“Our goal was to take the established mechanics and features of farm games and elevate them to a new level, with an experience that was more tightly knit and customized to the player,” said Barn Voyage lead designer Mitch Zamara. “My favourite parts of the game are the recipes that you can make with things you grow in the game, the customisable avatar system and the large numbers of quests.”
Barn Voyage joins other popular FunPlus farming sims including Family Farm and Happy Acres.
“One reason FunPlus has been successful in farm games and social-simulation games is that it has innovated some of the mechanics that are now standard features in the category,” said FunPlus CSO Dan Fiden. “You can earn and purchase machines that take the ingredients in the game into secondary and tertiary products.”

In March FunPlus has announced that the company has secured US$74 million in new funding to finance overseas expansion. Investors included Orchid Asia Group, GSR Ventures and Steamboat Ventures.
Zhong and Yitao Guan founded Beijing-based FunPlus in 2010, and the publisher’s mobile titles include Family Farm, Seaside, Royal Story and Happy Acres. According to the company, Family Farm alone has over 4 million DAU worldwide, with revenues mainly from Europe and North America.
