PS Now launches NA public beta

Sony PlayStation Now

Sony has released the North American public beta of the publisher’s PlayStation Now game streaming and rental platform.

The PS Now public beta for Sony PlayStation 4 users in North America launched with over 100 games. Sony also plans to extend the service to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms shortly.

“We’re working diligently to bring a subscription option to gamers to compliment our rental offering for PlayStation Now,” said PlayStation Now Senior Director Jack Buser. “We believe that offering both of these options would provide gamers the freedom to discover and play games in ways that weren’t before possible.”

Last month Sony expanded the PS Now private beta to owners of the company’s newest Bravia 4K and select 1080p televisions in North America.

Announced in January, the PlayStation Now game streaming and rental platform will allow Sony hardware owners (including PS4/PS3 consoles, handheld PS Vita and other Sony devices like HDTVs, tablets and smart phones) to stream games from PlayStation Now cloud servers.

Sony PlayStation Now is scheduled to roll-out worldwide this year.
