Tecmo Koei, GungHo implement JP spending caps

Puzzle & Dragons

Following a series of incidents where online and social game players have spent large amounts on in-app purchases, publishers Tecmo Koei and GungHo Online have introduced spending limits for younger gamers in Japan.

The Japanese publishers will restrict children under 15 to 5,000 JPY (US$50) a month in microtransactions, and youths from ages 16 to 19 meanwhile will be limited to 20,000 JPY (US$200) per month in in-game purchases.

Tecmo Koei provides microtransactions in their popular Dynasty Warriors and Dead or Alive series, and GungHo also earns revenues from in-app purchases in the publisher’s hit Puzzle & Dragons mobile game.
