Sept CN launch for Xbox One

Microsoft Xbox One

Microsoft and Chinese partner BesTV New Media have announced that the Microsoft Xbox One console will be released in China on 23 September. Microsoft will be the first foreign company to release a game console in China since the fourteen-year ban was officially lifted in April.

Bundled launch titles for the console will include Neverwinter Online from Beijing-based Perfect World. Tencent and China Telecom will also distribute the Xbox One in China.

Thirteen Chinese studios are currently developing content for the Xbox One, including several upcoming games from Perfect World, as well as Gamebar, Yinpei Games, NetEase, Snail Games and Tencent.

In May Microsoft and BesTV first revealed plans to launch the Microsoft Xbox One in China, following last year’s announcement of plans to jointly develop a game console and streaming platform for the Chinese market.

Microsoft Xbox One debuted in thirteen territories on 21 November last year, including the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and will roll-out in 26 countries including Korea, Japan and Singapore on 4 September.
