Square Enix’s MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, re-launched in late August, has now registered over 1.5 million player accounts.
As reported just before the re-launch, FF XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida had said that the company planned conservatively for the new FF XIV release, and was unprepared for the large number of concurrent players at the game’s initial launch.

“Considering the outcome of our first (FF XIV) launch, our sales estimates for this one were decidedly conservative, as we believed that there would be a more gradual rise in users over the opening weeks and months,” Yoshida said.
The title re-launched in late August with a new server configuration to accommodate well over 400,000 concurrent players without delays, according to the company.
